Digital Stories about Thanksgiving

The students have worked  extremely hard in small groups to create digital stories about the first Thanksgiving.  This is their first attempt at creating digital stories and I am very proud of their efforts and finished products....I think you will be, too! We use an app called Story Kit and students are able to draw illustrations, take photos, record their voices, and type text on each page.  The students love trying to use all of the tools!  You can get this app free in iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/storykit/id329374595?mt=8   . I'm sure they would love to create their own digital stories at home.  Be sure to use the 'share' button and email them to our class so we can celebrate their work as well!

When they are shared the quality is not as great as when it is viewed in the app, but they are still pretty cute :)  When you see the speaker icon like the one below be sure to click it and you'll hear their sweet voices.

After modeling how to use the app the students completed these on their own, they did AWESOME!

Last week of school fun!!!!

 Dills’ Darlings Almost Summer….

Kindergarten Celebration!
It has been my pleasure sharing in your children’s learning this year as they grew into the almost first grader they are now!  For the last week of kindergarten, I’d like to make each day special with a little “celebration” theme to honor all the hard work and perseverance your children have put into this year!  If you’d like to send in any special treats on any of these days just let me know.  Thanks for helping us make our last week together extra special!

Tuesday:  May 27th
Books and Buddy Day- Bring several of your favorite books and one stuffed buddy to share with the class as we read around the room.
Wednesday:  May 28th
Summer Fun and Celebration of Learning! Be sure your child has socks so they can enjoy the inflatables!  Lunch will be provided for each student this day.  Dress in cool summer clothes. Send in a beach towel and sunglasses as we’ll be reading some summer books outside!
Thursday:  May 29th
Career Day – Dress up in a way that shows what you want to be when you grow up. Your child may bring in props to show their future career.  We will be guessing what each student wants to be when they grow up.  Your child will also receive a special prediction from me on what I think they will be one day!   This is also our last “show and teach”.
Friday:  May 30th
Friendship Bracelet Day-we’ll use some beads and string to create some friendship bracelets to share. If you have any extra beads for us to use feel free to send them in!
